What is the school like?

Killamarsh Junior School has 165 children as of September 2014 aged 7-11 years. Most of the pupils transfer from Killamarsh Infant School, which is directly opposite the Junior School on Sheffield Road. At the age of 11 most children transfer to Eckington Com-prehensive School or another secondary school of their choice.

Killamarsh Junior School was formerly a secondary school, built in 1927 and is set in attractive grounds. To the front of the school is a lawn, shrubbery and car park. Behind the school there is a play-ground incorporating a Trim-trail play area, seating, stage and large playing field.

The school is built as a rectangle of corridors surrounding a lawned garden, which contains trees, flowerbeds seating and shade. Nine classrooms, a newly refurbished computer suite, a library and hall open onto the corridors.
