Homework
Homework will be given every Friday and needs to be returned by the following Wednesday. Check the Homework PDFs below for a copy of the current homework.
Spellings
Children will be tested on spellings taken from the Year 3/4 spelling list. These will be tested every Monday and a new spelling list will be glued into the planner. Some children may be given fewer spellings to learn if they are struggling.
Times Tables
By the end of Year 3, children need to know their 10, 5, 2, 3, 4 and 6 times tables. By the end of Year 4, children need to know all their tables to 12x12. The children will work through different Times Tables Challenges. Every Wednesday your child will be given a times table test. All children will start by trying to earn their Bronze Award. They have to answer 48 questions on the 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables. They will have 5 minutes to complete the grid. After they have achieved full marks, 3 weeks in a row they will move on to the Bronze Plus Award.

We were visited by two school nurses to learn about the safe use of medicine. We looked at things that were safe to use in the body and items that are not safe at all. We learnt about not using anybody else's medication including inhalers and to make sure we have the correct dose given by an adult.
Our Bayeux Tapestry
We used TEAMWORK to create a class Bayeux Tapestry. We drew, coloured and cut-out parts of the tapestry and glued them to a long hessian sheet. We used markers to decorate the borders.

Celt Day
We have had a fantastic day learning all about the Celts and our class looked incredible.
We wrote a diary about the day in the life of a Celt. We also finished our wool weaving and celtic knot designs.
We learnt about their diet and homes they lived in. The smallest roundhouse had a diameter of 5m and the largest a diameter of 15m. We chalked two roundhouses on the playground to see how big they would have been.
We are now looking forward to the rescheduling of the Theatre company and meeting Boudicca.

Operation Christmas Child - Shoebox appeal
A big thank you goes to everyone who donated for the shoebox appeal. Whether you brought an item or a full shoebox, it was a great way to demonstrate the enterprise skill of MAKING ETHICAL DECISIONS.

The True Story of the Three Little Pigs
Today we carried out the trial of Alexander T. Wolf.
We were split into groups, the wolf, the defence and prosecution team.
After each team had questioned the Wolf, we became the jury and decided if the wolf was guilty or not guilty.
Our Verdict was GUILTY.

Reading Tokens
The first reading token draw has taken place and we have a winner!
Remember to read 3x a week, with at least one adult comment, to have a chance of winning a book!
Indian Food Tasting
Healthy Teeth
We carried out an investigation to find out which drinks damage our teeth. We put eggshells in different drinks and observed the results. The vinegar softened the eggshells whereas coca cola turned it brown. Water and milk had no effect on the eggshells.
We also looked at how to brush our teeth effectively.
Take a look at our Teeth slideshow.

India
This term we are learning all about India. We have looked at the climate and mountain ranges. Wrote a postcard from the top of Mount Everest and created Mendhi hand patterns and elephants.
Rangoli Patterns
India Information Group Posters
We worked in groups of 5/6 to create an information poster all about India. Each person researched and took notes about one element like food, transport or education. We then used TEAMWORK to create a group poster.
Think U KnowThis term we are looking at Internet Safety in Computing. The Think U Know website is brilliant for both children and adults.
Growth Mindset
We became superheroes to think about how we approach our work. We have thought about the Enterprise skill POSITIVE ATTITUDE. Rather than say 'This is too hard' we are going to say 'I love a challenge'.
