We have been visited today by a past pupil and her colleagues from Sheffield Hallam University. They are training as child nurses and are taking part in a community project to promote healthy lifestyles.
We learnt about the role of a children's nurse, the use of ABCDE to check a casualty and how to put someone into the recovery position.
We would like to thank them for taking the time to speak to our children. Thank you!
Today Y3/4A and Y3/4D have joined Rykneld Homes and the Killamarsh Conservation Group to plant bulbs in the community. Thank you to everyone for organising and running this activity.
Also, thank you to Killamarsh Infant and Nursery School for the loan of their trowels.
Next week, we will be participating in Place2Be's Children's Mental Health Week. The theme this year is 'Let's Connect.'
Children will take part in variety of activities in school. Have a look Wellbeing Challenge sheet. You can complete at home.
On Friday 10th February, we are asking children to 'Dress to Express.' Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately to play outside at break times and lunch.
Gemma from Thornberry Animal Sanctuary visited us with Sheba. She talked about the work of the sanctuary and presented us with our Winners trophy. As a result of entering their pumpkin carving competition, she thanked us for helping her raise the profile of their charity.
We will remember...
We have taken part in a competition, along with other schools, with Thornberry Animal Sanctuary. We had to carve the shape of an animal in a pumpkin. These will be voted for on their Facebook page. Please keep an eye out for our entry and vote for us using the below link. This should be going live tomorrow or Saturday.

All entries will then be on display on Sunday 30th October, see the attached poster for details.
Thanks
Today, we had a visit from past pupil, Calli Thackery. She spoke to the children about the Commonwealth Games, her athletic career, and goals for the future. Hopefully, she has inspired some future athletes.
She brought in a pin badge for each class. Names were drawn out of a hat to receive the prize. She has also brought in a signed kit. A lucky winner has been selected.
We would like to thank Calli for taking the time to speak to us. Good luck with qualifying for the Paris Oympics 2024. We'll be cheering you on!
