The children have taken part in a whole school art project based on the piece of music 'The Carnival of the Animals.' Each class studied a different artist and created a sketchbook page. They used this inspiration to create their own unique animal sculpture.

Killamarsh Junior is a small and caring community where everyone's welfare is our concern.
We are working hard to support our pupil's staff and family at this difficult time.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of all concerned and to the community of Killamarsh as a whole!
We are sending our support, love and prayers.
Please get in contact if we can help you further in any way.

We're sorry to announce that John Sizer (our Crossing Patrol Officer) is leaving to start a new job in 2 weeks. We are very grateful for his service to our schools and children over the last 51/2 years and wish him all the best for the future.
If you would like to contribute to a leaving present for John, please drop it in to the office in a marked envelope, thank you!
That of course leaves us with a vacancy for the time being. If you are interested in being a crossing patrol officer or know someone who might be, please visit the Derbyshire County Council jobs site
https://jobs.derbyshire.gov.uk/ and click on Highways
Please note that we may not have a crossing patrol officer for the last 1 week and 4 days of term so will be talking through road safety with the children again and if you are worried about your children's independence when using a crossing, then you may need to arrange someone to supervise them on their journey to and from school over these last days.
As you know, the schools have had to fund this patrol ourselves and we appreciate the support we have had from you for this in the past.
At this time, it looks unlikely we'll be able to fund the post after January 2022 , unless we receive more funding that is not school budget dependent. If you you know someone or an organisation that can help with this please get in touch.
The children all looked fantastic in their 'real-life heroes' costumes. Congratulations to the winners of the Royal Mail Heroes Stamp design competition.
On Friday 28th May, we are taking part in the Royal Mail 'Heroes' Stamp Design Competition. Royal Mail want to honour the work of the real-life heroes of the pandemic who have worked tirelessly to keep the country moving during the pandemic.
Children will design a stamp in school. Two designs will be selected from each class and entered into the competition. A special panel of judges will select eight winning stamps and these will be sent to Her Majesty The Queen, before they are printed and distrubuted. Winners will receive up to £1,000 in high street vouchers and schools will recieve up to £1,000 in cash.
We would also like children to dress up on the day. They could come dressed as NHS frontline workers, supermarket workers, school teachers or support staff, delivery drivers, public transport workers, vaccine scientists, military personnel, emergency services, cleaners or even Captain Sir Tom Moore and many more...
We are looking forward to this event.
Age UK Derby and the Derbyshire would like to honour Captain and raise money.
Captain Tom's birthday is Friday 30th April. They are asking people to raie £100. We will be completing our daily mile and would like children to donate £1.
Thanks for your support.
To mark the Japan-Uk Season of Culture, we applied to take part in the Sakura Cherry Tree Project. The aim of the project is to celebrate the friendship between both countries. The project aims to plant over 1,000 cherry blossom trees. Today, Y3/4D helped to plant the tree at the edge of our school field.

During the 9th-13th March, we will be taking part in British Science week. The theme is Our Diverse Planet. As part of this, we have arranged for a ZooLab workshop on Monday 23rd March. Each class will learn about different animals and have an opportunity to handle some of the animals.
Keep checking the website or facebook page to see what is happening in your child's class.
